Book clubs are a great way to meet new people and to talk about books. I was actually a part of a book club in high school. This club was set up by the librarian; however, she gave us the choice to choose whichever book we wanted and let us guide the conversations. This experience was great because I got to make a lot of new friends that I found something in common with, which was reading. This book club also let me critically think and really take in the book because I knew that I would have to discuss it. In the book club I was also able to meet the author of one of the books. This was awesome because I got to meet the person behind the story that I read which made the story feel more real.
This book club made me love reading even more and motivated me to find what types of books I truly enjoyed. I think the year that I was in the book club is when I read the most books in that period of time. It's a great club that allows you to learn, grow, and make new friends. I recommend that everyone joins a book club at least once in their lifetime.
HI Elsa! Great to meet you on your BLOG space! It took me a minute to realize that "Instructions not included" was the name of a book. :-) The power of a teacher. Yes, a Book Club that includes people that are serious about reading is a great start to turn a non-reader into a reader. One of my book clubs actually traveled to the location that the book was about.
